TUNEME: ESSENTIALS

Hello, Bonjourno, privet, shalom, guten tag, salamaleikum...

We're introducing a brand new feature to Trouble Stereo - a weekly dose of tracks that we think you just CAN'T be without. We've teamed up with our good friend over at TUNEme and he'll be providing you with the tunes that he thinks should be in your music collection each and every week! Below are the 5 essentials to your music diet this week.

Our favorite track right now comes from the continually brilliant Foamo (pictured). It's fair to say that you won't be able to escape his outstanding remix of Bulletproof pretty soon, so why not enjoy it for a while and play it to death at home first?

TUNEme would like to apologise for the particularly DUB feel to his first batch of essentials - things won't always be this bassy!

1) La Roux - Bulletproof (Foamo Remix)

2) Don Diablo & Example - Hooligans (Doorly's Dubstep Remix)

3) Bionic Commando - Bionic Commando Theme (Rusko Remix)

4) Biscope - Ol Dirty (Shimmy Shimmy Ya RRemix)

5) Cam'ron - Silky (No Homo)

Trouble Stereo favorites DEM SLACKERS have just sent us their latest blog release - a filthy remix of Amsterdam by fellow dutch fidget producers Mightyfools. The boys remix of Amsterdam is a wonky, wobbly, fidget banquet with a beastly, repetitive bassline. A 1:00am face melter to throw all kinds of absurd shapes to! Make sure you keep your eyes open and yours ears peeled for the lads upcoming Trouble Stereo mixtape.

Mightyfools - Amsterdam ft. Guerilla Speakerz (Dem Slackers Remix)

BONUS: Mightyfools - Amsterdam ft. Guerilla Speakerz (BUIZA 'Barkie' Remix)

TROUBLED THOUGHTS: 3 IS A CROWD + LAZY ANTS

Italian trio 3 Is A Crowd have sent over a new remix of their recent release "What is a DJ?" (available to download now at iTunes, Juno and Beatport). The remix "cooked in a hot hardfloor sauce" by fellow Italian's Lazy Ants (NT89 & Kill Phil) is one BIG, MEAN track. A squeaking, stomper with deadly beats. You will either love this one or hate it.

3 Is A Crowd - What is a DJ? (Lazy Ants Remix)

3 Is A Crowd are currently working on new material with Edu K and En Masse; so expect plenty more, fresh Italian sounds very soon.

Recently featured Lazy Ants have also just sent over some more tracks for your aural pleasure! Their remix of Runark by Congorock is another BIG production. An invigorating remix fuelled by constant pounding beats, relentless, blaring synths and the recurring vocal snippet- "don't get busy on the tempo!" FIERCE!!!

Congorock - Runark (Lazy Ants Remix)

Lazy Ants original track "Choke Me Spank Me" is the boys finest production so far. A track that features NT89's now trademark high-pitched rave synths and the wonderfully lewd, female vocal sample "Choke me, spank me, pull me hair." Lords Of Acid fans eat your filthy hearts out!!

Monday 20 April 2009

TROUBLED THOUGHTS: MESSKID

Rising Brooklyn DJ and producer MESSKID has just sent us his first original production 'Wolves.' A rattling, minimal track with strong, crunky synths and hard, rolling beats. This is a fearsome first original production recorded in just four sessions at Izzy Gold Studios. We can guarantee you'll be hearing a lot more from this fella over the next few months!

Sunday 19 April 2009

TROUBLED THOUGHTS: PATRICK WOLF + STOPMAKINGME & SINGLETON

Stopmakingme (Kill Em All/AITBF) & Singleton have joined forces again to construct a dark and deeply sinister remix of Patrick Wolf's new single 'Vulture.' Daniel Avery and Simon Singleton are two lads constantly proving their musical worth; whether through their live DJ sets, mixtapes or productions. Their latest collaboration is a ghostly creation made up of gentle synths and beats that are superbly blended with Wolf's melancholy vocals.

They first caught our ears with their astounding, rhythmic remix of Cazals (Kitsune) and have since produced impressive remixes for Golden Bug (Silicon Square Garden) and Modex. Their label Sentient Sound hits the nail on the head with their comments about the trio - "(they're) producing a magically hypnotic deep techno groove sure to find legions of fans throughout the globe." They've certainly won us over!

Their exclusive mix is recorded in the style of a vinyl with two sides (A and B). Side A is an enchanting fusion of deep techno and disco with gripping bursts of funky, imposing synths. TROUBLED THOUGHTS: NT89 + TIGA

NT89 (Nima Tahmasebi) has just completed a brand new mix of Tiga’s recent remix for Fever Ray – The Knife’s Karin Dreijer. The result is another outstanding production from NT89. Nima takes Tiga’s delicate, disco wonder and transforms it into a formidable banger! A rave influenced track with hard, rolling synths and light, rising undertones. Karin's vocals on this track were already stunning and Nima uses them to devastating effect. A triumph from one of Italy's rising stars!

Be sure to check it out if you're in the London area because it should be one BIG night.

Jamie states on his myspace that he's "trying to put together an indie-electro sound with loads of grimey basslines and big hooks with samples from a few of his (my) fave bands" and that's exactly what he's produced with this mix! It's an exhibition of catchy, absorbing synth arrangements and hefty, bass enthused tracks that are tightly mixed and carefully constructed. You can normally catch Pressplay at Egg, 333 or east Ghetto.

TROUBLED THOUGHTS: KOLT 13

Parisian KOLT 13 is a producer that's been attracting attention from the hottest blogs on the internet recently - mainly for his superb Tigersapien and Digitalism remixes. He takes a mature, individual approach to each of his productions; resulting in differing sounds each time that are constructed to suit the nature of the original tracks themselves. His latest remixes are now here to download at Trouble Stereo!

His Avian X remix is a forceful, fast paced track with choppy, shifting vocals. Altogether, it's a hard, menacing remix that develops throughout with different sections to enjoy - the ominous Jeff Wayne 'War of the World' segment being an especially nice touch.

Avian X - Dark Circles (Kolt 13 Remix)

His remix for German indie boys Empty Guns is a delicate, relaxing creation that uses the original vocals to beautiful effect. A mixture of squeaky, elegant synths and winding, faint synths over ruptured hip hop influenced beats makes this track a wonderfully refined listen.

Empty Guns - It's Damn Broke (Kolt 13 Remix)

TROUBLED THOUGHTS: DEM SLACKERS

Also featuring their track 'God is a Slacker', this is an EP not to be missed.

Download 'The Joker' from BEATPORT now and prepare to be shaken to your very core!!!

Joe and Will have now been kind enough to pick up their headphones and produce a heady, mind bending techno mix exclusively for Trouble Stereo. A minimal mix compiled of rippling blips, pings and soft techno beats that builds from being calm and gentle into an exhilarating and unashamedly euphoric arrangement of forceful sounds. A mix that contains two of their most recent remixes and finishes with their vicious, synth driven track 'Mongozo.' This is a duo that defines what the Trouble Stereo Mixtape Project is all about - the world's most exceptional rising talents!

His exclusive mixtape, recorded live this month, is an introduction to the artists and remixers that have obvious influence on Plastic Fang’s musical productions. A collection of bratty female vocals and male lathario’s backed by pushy, buzzing synths, guitars and crashing drum beats. This isn’t perfect listening, but it’s a coherent assortment of sounds that work together to construct a mix that is quite simply dirty party music.

HOSTAGE a.k.a. Alan Parley is one of the strongest forces in the U.K fidget house scene and he proves it yet again with his latest remix of The Prodigy's brand new track 'Take Me To The Hospital.' We wanted to kick off our exclusive mix series with a grimy, filth fueled bang and that's exactly why we invited YOUTH ATTACK! (Leeds based DJ/Producer duo Lee Dunn & Chris Petty) to be one of the projects first contributors. The boys haven't disappointed - providing us with a winding, rising clash of sounds that builds into an all out electro feast for your ears!

Youth Attack! have shared the bill with Duke Dumont, Mr Flash, Andy George and you can catch them at HEADS UP! on 7th February playing along side parisian rising star Surkin. They've remixed Tiga, Shadow Dancer, Digitalism and most recently NT89's booming single 'Booster.' Their remix of 'Focker' by Late of the Pier was featured on Pete Tong's Radio 1 show and their debut single 'Yo Paris!' will be dropping this year featuring remixes from Ocelot, Foamo and T.E.D.D.

You can expect great things from this duo in 2009 because they won't disappoint.
